Right on! The beds look great!

My aunt has been doing a regenerative garden for the past few years, in raised beds, and kind of “building her own soil.” That must be Hugelkultur! I couldn’t recall the word.

Can’t wait to follow along and see how your garden grows. 🪴 🪏 😊

Way to go, Doug! Nothing like eating food you grew yourself.

If I plant the lettuce this week in a month I will be eating my first "crop" lol. But I have high hopes for the tomatoes in the greenhouse. They will be planted around mid-May and the varieties I plant should produce into November under plastic.

Good to hear from you! How are things your way now?

Things are mostly back to normal in my immediate neighborhood. A short 3 mile drive reveals much devestation that still hasn't been started on. And my own back fence has what's left of a 100 foot oak tree on it. It's getting there though what is left is beyond my 16" chainsaw's ability.

I planted my own garden this weekend, and as long as the varmints and pests allow I should have a nice harvest this summer. My own raised beds are at least 6" from the top too, and they still work great. But unless I were to buy soil, it's a slow process filling them from my compost and fallen leaves. They get a little more full each year though. My better half teases me about how much I spend on the garden (money and time) but she doesn't mind when we have all the ingredients for fresh pico de gallo in July! Lettuce is a tough one here with all the rabbits, but I hope you get many a salad. And home grown tomoatoes are about the most different tasting vegetable from store-bought IMO.

We are in the country and there are many deer around... but there is also a lot of forage for them in the farmers' fields (corn and hay). Still, if need be I will put a deer fence around the garden to protect my hard work lol!

Good to hear things are getting back to some semblance of "normal". I had read that FEMA funds were cut off for NC while there is still much work to be done.

Stay well, my friend!

That looks amazing. We won’t do anything that ambitious, but will have a few tomato plants and perhaps a bit more.

I still want to do a cross Canadian trip in late summer. If we make it to Nova Scotia as planned I’d like to meet you in person.

I hope you’ve voted in your election and the results are better than ours!

Oh yeah I voted at my first opportunity! I really hope we get a turnout in Canada of at least 70% of the electorate. If so, I think the

Liberals win a majority.

And of course, I would love to see you!
